5 Rules To Match Your designer Socks With Your Outfit

No matter what you prefer when it comes to designer socks for men, whether you match them with your formal dress or casual outfit, there are some rules that you need to follow to make them blend into your attire.

Some of these rules include the following:
Rule #1: Match Your Socks with Your Pants
If you like to keep it simple, you should match your socks with your pants. You will make a visually seamless extension of your legs, which will make you appear taller. Matching does not mean identical colors and they need to fall in the same hue. A shade darker or lighter is fine since it does not relegate socks to anonymity, yet they aren’t screaming to be noticed.
Rule #2: Go Tonal If You are in Doubt
It’s the most foolproof method you may use. Select a pair of socks, which can be either a shade lighter or darker than the trousers you are wearing. For instance, if you are wearing a mid-grey suit, think of wearing charcoal socks. You can also try cobalt blue socks with navy chinos if your dark socks are in your wash. It is to go wrong once you use this method.
Rule #3: Tonal Patterns and Textures
Always stick with the above-mentioned rule, yet introduce a subtle pattern or texture to your preferred socks. For example, you may reach for charcoal pair that is made from thicker wool, complete with a mark or fleck to pair with a grey suit. You may also incorporate subtle polka dot or stripe to the mix. Just take note that the textured styles may add weight to the look. Thus, if you start using thicker socks, take note to use them with the pieces that are made from rugged or heavy materials including corduroy, wool, tweed, leather or denim.
Rule #4: Make Sure That Your Outfit is on Point Once You Go Bold
Colorful socks often work best with simple and sharp tailoring or dark and clean pair of jeans. Though everything works better with simple and sharp tailoring dark jeans, these socks can be a good choice. The point is that like waving bright flags, vivid socks would just draw more attention to the schlubby outfit. Therefore, get the rest of your getup in check before reaching for a 3-color striped or bright argyle pair.
Rule #5: Avoid Exact Matches
Never match the color of your chosen socks to the dominant color of your outfit. Regardless if it’s your pocket square or tie, matching socks with the color of any outfit looks very deliberate. Matching socks with your favorite shoes isn’t also a smooth move. Your beautiful shoes would blend right into your pair of socks for the bootie effect.
Although you can always break the rules, it would be a good idea to keep those mentioned rules above so you can stay stylish even though you’re using funky socks or any kind of socks with your outfit. But, at the end of the day, the choice is always yours.

Yes, since the Stone Ages, socks were believed to be in use way before T-shirts and trousers came to existence. Unfortunately, socks now seem to be that clothing item often overlooked and taken for granted just because people have no idea how to wear socks.
